Flathead abounds in Australia, which partly explains why it is a favorite fishing target in the region. Like their namesake, this fish has a long narrow body with a flat top head. In cold months like in winter, they warm themselves by getting into shallow water that hardly covers their top. They do this to soak in sunshine and get warm like a flatheads version of sunbathing. If you often go exploring in shallow water, you can easily step on them, but with their quick reflexes, they easily swim away. During this cold season, it is easy to catch flatheads because they can be pretty aggressive and do no easily get scared. This is a good things for flatheads make a pretty good meal.
