Your Fishing Expedition May Reel In More Than Just Fish

The great thing about a fishing charter adventure is the excitement and thrill you will experience. Most fishing charter operators can tell of countless stories regarding their extraordinary experiences in the business. Though they are quick to claim that along with the thrill, they make sure that their customers are safe. Life jackets are provided as well as thorough briefing on what they can expect in the water.

It is only right that fishing charter operators are fully aware of the dangers related to their business so that they can guide and ensure the safety of their clients. Just recently in the news, three fishermen out for some barramundi fishing in the Northern territory found themselves staring straight into a gigantic crocodile’s mouth. One of them was reeling in his catch when the monster croc leapt out of the water to grab the fish.

It was a good thing that a reptile expert who head the local snake and spider awareness program was able to hook his first barramundi before the crocodile sprung for it. The fishermen knew that the crocodile was present because they saw it going for the fish caught by a fellow angler. However, the lure of bagging a barramundi was too much to deter one of their company. Fully aware of the reptile, they had their camera on standby. Keeping a steady hand, a barra was caught as well as the crocodile, with a camera, lunging after it. Leaping crocs are very much in common to the area, which is often the highlight of the whole fishing experience. However, the fish was undersized and was returned to the sea, most likely with reluctance. It was left with two grim choices of dying with a fisherman’s hook or by the jaws of a monster croc. A photo of a four meter saltwater crocodile diving after the fishermen’s catch and boat is their memento from such an exciting fishing episode. They still lingered in the area and went about their business of fishing.

If you think that fishing is too laidback, then think again. You can never be too sure what lurks beneath the waters. Practicing caution, your fishing expedition may turn out to be a heart pounding experience.
